First Day of School--4's class

She gets to go down the big kid hallway.  She gets to play at the big kid playground. She gets to go an extra day. She gets to stay an extra hour. She gets to pack a lunch.

Sally's in the 4's class this year and she was thrilled to start school! Mommy was too!

Prepping the caramel rolls, last night

Of course, I'm a little bit sad as she's another year older, another year she needs her mommy less.  But she loves school.  She loves to learn. She loves to make friends and be a friend and that makes me so very happy!

Just like last year, I didn't cry until I read this...

I wonder what you're doing now,
and if everyone is treating you kind.
I hope there is a special person,
a nice friend that you can find.

I wonder if the teacher knows
just how special you are to me.
And if the brightness of your heart
is something that she can see.

I wonder if you're thinking about me,
and if you need a hug.
I already miss the sound of your voice
and how you give my leg a tug.

I wonder if you could possibly understand
how hard is for me to let you grow.
On this day know that my heart breaks,
for this is the first step in letting my
baby go.

What I didn't anticipate as much was how sad Libby was going to be.  She was crying before we even got to the car.  Every 5 minutes she has asked for Sally :) Will be fun to see when they reunite.  Libby gets to start school on Friday with Mommy at ECFE!!

Which reminded me of this poem I pinned a while back...

Big Sister

My little eyes are watching
ALL you say and do.
And when I grow up
big and tall
I want to be like you.

My little ears
are listening
to everything you say.
I am learning how
to grow up
to be like you
someday.

So be careful
how you teach me
to be the person
that you are.
You're the best
friend that I
could have;
You're my brightest
shining star!

Cheers another successful summer and a blessed school year ahead!!

Perks of packing a lunch :)

Happy Hump Day!!

  1. Awesome post Jacks! Definitely bittersweet to send her off to 2nd year of pre-school. It is so fun to see how excited she is to go and to share the stories from the day. Thanks for all you've done, and do every day, to help the girls jump into each new adventure. Love you 3 girlies so much!
