Measuring Development

We've been able to measure Sally's development based on what she does when she's in her bouncy seat:

  • This is where we could first set her down when she was awake and she wouldn't get mad
  • She first started smiling and babbling when we would pull Frank (the frog)
  • She was able to pull Frank herself
  • She started leaning forward so she needed to be strapped in
  • She was able to pull the snail and turtle off and throw them on the floor
  • Now I think she may have outgrown it, as she uses it to practice her gymnastic moves...

What's wrong with this photo

The other day I was doing laundry and noticed a small puddle by the washing machine. I knew it was time to call Centerpoint to have a service man come clean our main drain out. For the first time that I can remember, an "extra," paid off. What I mean by this, is when Reid and I set up our account with Centerpoint we added on the Service Plus and to that added main drain clean out. Since we pay a small extra fee on our monthly bill we were not charged for the visit. If we had not had this extra on our bill we would have had to pay close to $300 to have our drain cleaned out! So, check your Centerpoint account, and I would highly recommend adding this feature, it pays for itself! Below, I have a picture of the service van that pulled up...

Some of you may have seen a segment on Ellen's Show called "What wrong with this photo, photo." See if you can see what's "wrong" with the photo below:
Need a closer look? I zoomed in for you...

I hope it at least made you smile :)

Giddy up!

Our good friends, Pat and Tiff, took us out for dinner for my birthday. We went to the Lone Spur Grill. It is one of those places that you drive past all the time and always wonder...it didn't disappoint! The food was very good. They also have great Bloody Marys, my favorite! Sally had some fun with the restaurant's decor! Thanks again Pat and Tiff for a great birthday dinner, we always have so much fun with the two of you!

I couldn't resist...

Lots of lotion is a must if you live in Minnesota during the dry winter months!

in good times and in bad

"Hooray, we get showers today!" Sally isn't pulling herself up quite yet, but she can stand and rock if she has something to hold on to. As you can see, she's a big fan!
Sorry for those of you with a weak stomach. It really isn't all that bad (easy for me to say, right?). His dressing came off yesterday and he took a shower. Actually, we all got showers and baths yesterday. Our marriage went to a whole new level!

in sickness and in health

Yesterday was an okay day. Even though no one showered or got out of their pjs, it was an okay day! Sally and I made Reid his favorite chocolate chip cookies! Sally had a "cookie" of her own. It's almost as though Sally understands what is going on because she has been very good. She's always good, but even better than she normally is! We'll see what today holds!

Keeping a Smile on Daddy's Face!

He made it! Yesterday (and last night) was a loooong day. The surgery ended up being delayed about 2 hours...go figure. Sally was fabulous the entire time (Oh, and Reid was too)! Every doctor and nurse that walked by had to stop in to take a peek at Sally.

Last night felt like we went back in time to when Sally was a newborn. I was up almost every hour, either situating Reid, feeding Sally, getting pain meds for Reid, or just waking up because I thought I should. The first night is over, hopefully it'll be downhill from here! Thanks for the prayers!

Daddy's Home...

..and he will be for a while. Reid is getting surgery on his shoulder at noon today. He's been soaking up his time with Sally over the past few days. He isn't able to lift more than 5 pounds for six weeks. Hopefully the time will pass quickly!

Holidazzle

These pictures are from a while ago, but I don't think I ever posted them! We bundled Sally up and went to the Holidazzle with my family. I think she had like five layers on?

Favorite part of your day

When I was growing up a common question that went around the dinner table was "What was your favorite part of the day?" Reid and I have started to ask that as we unwind each day. Now that I'm home, my favorites obviously have to do with Sally (even if I wasn't home I'd like to think they would still be about her). Here are a few of my responses from the past couple of days:

Sally and I were being silly and listening to music and I wanted to take a video of her. Well, as you know, once she sees the camera she stops what she's doing, so I had to set it up and push record without her knowing. Now, I know she loves me and smiles and looks at me differently than anyone else, but I've never really seen it second hand. When I replayed the video I really got to see for the first time how she looks at me and watches my every move! We've had some fun times dancing!

Yesterday when I was done nursing Sally, she was full of smiles and giggles. I think we sat in the rocking chair for at least 20 minutes smiling and giggling. She'd give me the biggest belly laugh if I would just touch my nose to her face. Her laugh makes me laugh which then makes her laugh even harder!

My favorite favorite from this week was when Reid was reading Sally a book before bed. He used to not let me listen when he'd read Sally books. He'd say, "Don't listen, I know you're good at this stuff, it comes natural to you." Well, it comes natural to him as well, and he might even be better. He has a voice for every character and Sally gets a kick out of it! He was reading the book the Hat by, Jan Brett. Similar to the Mitten, if you've heard of that one. At this point in the story he was talking like a "Cluck, cluck, Hen, Cluck, Cluck" You can tell by Sally's smiles how much she enjoys it.

What was your favorite part of your day? (Feel free to post it in the comments)

"Thanks Auntie Tiff for making me this snuggly tag blanket. I just love the colors! Thanks for letting me be the one to always test your new stuff (my mommy loves its!). Can't wait to play with you again soon!"

8 years!

Eight years ago today, Reid and I started dating. I know, I know, once you get married your wedding date becomes your new anniversary, but I will always remember this day. It is fun to think back to when it all started, and how far we've come! These pictures are two of my favorites from our first year together. I have the one of us laughing in a frame next to my bed, and have had it there for many years; it kind of sums us up :)

Barbie!

My very own Barbie! It's the 2009 Barbie in honor of the year I was born. Thank you Nana and Grandpa! My daddy wanted me to know that I should not try to grow up trying to look like Barbie and that she is "make believe." He's says I'm perfect just the way I am :)
