MIA

Sorry I haven't been on in the past two days.  I have two very good reasons.  One, we have a sick toddler around here.  The flu AGAIN!! Third time this winter! Also, I haven't had an internet connection since Sunday night.  I'm borrowing my wonderful Neighbor Lady's until Qwest comes out tomorrow to fix it.

You guys, the flu this time around was TERRIBLE!! I'm not even exaggerating when I say Sally threw up at least 20 times.  I held and rocked with her from 10-3:30am, throwing up roughly every 10 minutes.  I love that little lady, but man is that mentally and physically exhausting.  Daddy helped for as long as he could, but he needed to get some shut eye since he had to work the next day.  At one point Sally was so exhausted she fell asleep in the middle of throwing up.  She looked up and said "Help me, Daddy!" Oh, I would have given anything to change places with her and take her pain away!  Really makes me think about Blessed Mary, especially this time of year, and all that she went through, seeing her Son die on the Cross.

Yesterday she was a little better, but it then started coming out the other end.  I don't know how there was anything left, as she didn't eat much of anything yesterday.  She's doing better today, especially after 13 1/2 hours of sleep last night.  However, her appetite still isn't back.  I know, I know, when we get the flu it usually takes a while too, but the other two times she has bounced back so much faster.  Hopefully tomorrow will go even better.

We hope she's back to normal by Thursday morning, because Mommy and Daddy are going away from the weekend.  It will make me feel less guilty if she's feeling better.  Nana and Grandpa have graciously offered to watch Sally, and we know they'll take great care of her!

Here's a cute picture of the soon-to-be-two-year-old! They came over to play last week!

On the plus side, it's almost April! and we're starting to be able to see our yard again! I'll do my best to post tomorrow, otherwise I'll 'see' you on Monday!

Dress Up

Ugh, was a popular sound yesterday.  More fricken snow (can you tell how excited I am about it?), it put us into an unofficial 5th place in the record books for most snow on record.  I think they said only another 3 tenths of an inch and we'll be in 4th place.  Gosh, I feel bad for the 1st-3rd place years! It's a good thing Reid decided to have his shoulder surgery last year or I would look like a body builder if I had to shovel all of the white stuff.

To help cheer us up, we played dress up and used our imagination that it really was Spring, like the calendar says!

"Snow, Snow, Go Away, I want to go out and play!"

I'm not sure if she could have anymore pink on...

Sharing with her dollies

Clifford, the Big Red Dog

We had a fun day at MOA yesterday.  I had learned from previous experiences how important it is to get there early so you can be at the beginning of the line.

Almost two years ago I took William to meet Curious George at MOA (with Sally in my belly).  I went with my friend Tiffany and her nephew.  When we got there, the line was pretty long.  We had overheard people saying that even though the stores don't open until 10am you can still get into the Mall part earlier than that.  Yesterday, we got to the Mall at 9:45 and ended up being 10th in line.  By the time Clifford had made his appearance, the wait was at least 20 minutes before you'd see him.  It was a good thing we were at the front of the line, we were in and out in  no time.

Sally doesn't really watch much TV other than the 15 minute Elmo portion of Sesame Street.  So, she didn't really know who Clifford was, other than what her mama told her.  She did better than meeting Santa, she didn't shed any tears.  She hung on tight and was a little shaky, but overall did well.  Of course as soon as we left all she could talk about was "Clifford, and the puppy, and the big ear,s and the big eyes, Wow!"

She got lots of kisses from her Mama, she was such a good girl!

She was a big fan of the BIG BALL and the big Dora.  She's never seen the show Dora, but has a doll and can spot her anywhere, even if it's just a look-a-like and not really Dora, but just a little girl who has some of the features...if you know what I mean!

Have you heard about Scott, the guy living in a "glass apartment" at MOA?  Read more about it here

I think I could have left Sally in the middle of Nickelodeon Universe and she wouldn't have noticed...

We'll definitely be back for Toddler Tuesday!

Our Lucky Charm

Or at least our little charmer!  Here she was last week on Saint Patrick's Day.  My grandpa Moran was a 100% Irish, a little Leprechaun.  We had to go all out!

We're off to MOA today, for a date with just Mama and Sally.  It's Toddler Tuesday and Clifford is the highlight! Lunch for free at the American Girl Store!

Movie Monday

Great day for a movie with all the rainy weather we're having.  At least it's helping the white stuff to disappear!

This video was from Fat Tuesday.  Sally has to do everything her Daddy does!

Spring is in the air!

You can't wipe the grin off this little girl's face these days.  She would take a nap outside if we let her!

Sunday is the first day of Spring!

Enjoying the mix of the seasons.  Winter boots with Summer sidewalk chalk.

A good dose of Vitamin D.

Miss Diva!
Happy Weekend!

Narrator

"Dadddddy? DAAAAADDDDDY!"

"Daddy, Hi Daddy, reeeeeead iTTT"

Daddy tilts his head.

"Peeeassssse"

It's her favorite book right now.  Mommy's all time favorite.  "Love You Forever" She calls it her baby book because she loves to point out the baby that the mama is rocking.  She knows when the baby is being naughty and makes a mess, she knows when the baby buys a house, she knows when the mama calls because she's getting sick ("sick. sad. hug"), she can spot the kitty on every page. She can narrate every page for you, even up to the detail that the boy is cooking 'nooonels' {noodles} when the mom calls.

She could sit for hours and read book after book after book.  Only of course, if she can sit on your 'yap" {lap}.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Don't forget your green!

Two Tu Tus for Two, Almost-Two-Year-Olds!

As many of you know Sally and her cousin, Lucy, are only two weeks apart.  Lucy turns two on Easter Sunday. Since we'll all be home together we are also going to be celebrating the girls turning two.  Why not have a tu-tu party for the two year olds?

Have you seen the going rate for some tu-tus?  They range anywhere from $25-$45.  That seemed a little crazy for me, so I asked my good friend Tiffany if she could help us out with some tu-tus.  She sent me the link of what she wanted to do and I loved it.  I also thought, hmmm, that doesn't seem so hard.  You guys, I made two tu-tus all.by.myself! It was so fun and Sally loves them!

I thought about combining the two colors, but thought it would be fun to have two different tu-tus instead of two of the same.  It was so easy, you can do it too!  Take a look here.  Oh, and by the way, EACH tu-tu was a total of $6, SIX DOLLARS!!

Pictures worth a thousand words...

Does this picture not sum up the anticipation of Spring? We got outside yesterday, even if it was only for a sliver of time.  It was an hour of sunshine on our side of the block that we usually don't have after nap time.  We like springing ahead at our house.  Especially when the little sleeps until 9:30am!

Cool picture, isn't it?  Thank you to Baby Christensen for sharing your rain boots with Sally! She loved being able to splish splash in the puddles!

They're saying most of this snow will be melted by the end of the week.  Do you believe it?

She looks a little bit like a homeless person with her mismatched outfit, but she doesn't care, she's outside!!

She still loves spotting her airplanes! Such a better view outside, instead of from the front door!

Spring Weather, Where are you?!

Last night, Reid and I looked back at posts from last year at this time.  During this same week we had lunch OUTSIDE and there was no snow on the ground.  Ugh.  Can we PAWLEASE! go outside and play soon?

The weather looks like it is suppose to warm up, so we're hopeful!  This little love wants to go out and play!

Special Time With Daddy

Last night, I co-hosted a baby shower with my friend Kari, for our friend Tiffany. It was a lot of fun to have all the ladies together to celebrate Baby Girl Christensen!

Sally got to have special daddy time.  They went out to dinner together and then had some time to kill before they headed to ECFE.  So, Daddy decided to go to the party store.  He got a few pictures of some of Sally's favorite items at the store.

Happy Weekending =)

Prayers

Each morning when Sally wakes up, we make sure to say "Good Morning" to Jesus.  She has this banner in her room.  She loves to lean over and give kisses and hugs to the Big Guy. We have a favorite morning prayer that we say each morning as well.

"Oh my God I love you,
You're with me night and day.
I want to love you always,
in all I do and say.
I'll try to please you Father,
bless me through the day."
Amen!

Sally loves going to Church.  The little love got to go to Ash Wednesday Mass twice.  If she starts to get naughty and she gets 'the look' from Mommy or Daddy she'll say "Jesus watching!"  If only it could be this easy, right?

Here's a quick clip of her learning her before meal prayer...

Snip Snip

Sally got her first haircut this weekend!  We were apprehensive as to what her reaction would be, you know, because she tends to be a little on the sensitive side.  She sure surprised us, she did great! She didn't shed a tear.  If you ask her about her haircut she'll tell you she got a sucker.  We didn't cut very much off, just enough to help it continue to grow and thicken.

Here are some pictures and a video of the big event:

Lovin' Life

Such a big girl!
Diva
Was a big fan of the blow dryer, she does this with her Mama!
Of course we had to keep some locks for her baby book!

You can hear a little girl in the background, not having the best of times...

Happy Ash Wednesday!

22 Months

I think these pictures so the biggest growth in a year.  Holy cow, where did time go??  She's still a little diva, only now, she gets to decide when she feels like it.  She only left her bow in for 5 minutes.  It only lasted that long because she didn't know it was there.  When she was a baby I could do whatever with her clothes and hair (or lack thereof) and she couldn't do or say anything about it.  Well, Little Miss Sally has an opinion now, and she'll let you know what she thinks at any time!

3-7-81

Happy 30th Birthday to my lovely sister, Jenny, Mama Nash.

SISTERS
A sister's love is special
in oh so many ways.
A few miles between us
and minutes turn to days.

We've shared so much as children
the tears, the joys, the pain.
A lifetime spent together
those memories remain.

In times gone by we've pondered
the paths our lives have taken.
Knowing that in spite of this
our sister love, unshaken.

A sister's love is special
in ways that are unspoken.
Still that binding force exists,
our sister love, unbroken.
~Rosemary Wynings

Sally wanted to send you a little message as well.  She wasn't the most cooperative and wouldn't say your name.  She can say everything on her own, but would only do it if I said it first...

Thirtieth sure is a mouthful for an almost 2 year old =)

Brian, don't you love how Sally first calls you Bunny?

Happy 30th Jenny, We Love You!

Flippin' Friday!

Here's proof that her favorite number is indeed 9, her favorite color is orange and her favorite animal is a crow-cahhh (can you guess which parent would have taught her that?!).

Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend!

The Dads and their Girls

The Moms were gone Sunday morning so the Daddys and girls got together to play! From what we hear I guess they were a little crazy...

Sally was so excited she would scream and scream and scream
