Twenty Eight

I had a great day yesterday, turning 28.  Reid did a wonderful job making me feel special and appreciated-Thank you! He was nice enough to take the day off of work since he had class in the evening. {He didn't want to be gone from 7am-10pm on my birthday}

I woke up to this :)
 We had a little fun with the tripod my mom and George got us for our camera :)

Sally thought it was hilarious that we had to hurry and the camera took the picture itself!

A true picture of what our days are like

My girls...Libby's not so sure what she gets to be a part of...

Had to go to Yum! for a cupcake.  Sally didn't mind

A big thank you to the Lindberg's for having us over last night so we could continue to celebrate while Reid was at class.

Also, thank you to all of you for the kind words in your cards, texts, emails, phone calls, and Facebook Messages.  Really makes a girl feel loved on her special day! xo

I can do this

I think I can I think I can I know I can I know I can

I have!

Daddy's back to traveling again, for work :(  We enjoyed his almost 2 month break from school and travel.  He's back at it now.  He has class every Monday and Tuesday, which means he doesn't get home until 9:30pm.  This week he also traveled to Savannah for work.  His flight lands tomorrow night at 6pm.  We're missing him around here.

We stayed busy a few nights by playing with the Christensen girls. When the Boys are away, the Girls will Play and Pizza Night! Thank you Ladies, we had fun!

On another note, we've been getting quite a few smiles from Miss Cheekers!

"Hi Mommy"

We miss Daddy the most for our bedtime routine.  I feel guilty if Libby is awake and Sally doesn't get her one on one time for bedtime stories and prayers.  However, she certainly doesn't mind.  Last night when I came up with Libby, Sally exclaimed, "Does Libby get to come too?!! Yaaaaay!" Such a selfless little toddler

Lots of snuggle time with Mama!
Hurry home Reid, I need helping opening the applesauce jar!

A Difference of 5 minutes

She went from this...

to this...
colored on the wall with orange crayon...I left for 2 minutes to change Libby's Diaper
Like mother like daughter.  I too colored on the wall with crayon when I was a little girl.  I was suppose to be napping, but my brand new cabbage patch doll came holding a crayon...what was a little girl to do? :)

Winter Meltdown

ECFE {Early Childhood Family Education} Hosted a winter carnival called Winter Meltdown.  I volunteered at the event, so Sally spent most of the time with Daddy, while Libby slept next to Mommy collecting tickets.

Sally had a great time...especially in the "spa room"

Beauty and the Beast

Sally got to go to her first movie at the movie theatre this weekend. Beauty and the Beast. It was her reward for finally going #2 in the toilet for a week straight.  I'm also happy to report she continued to go today even though there was no reward.

She loved it and did great.  She loved her special treats.  She was in awe the whole time and sat like a good little girl.  It definitely helped that she knew the movie and what would happen next.  I love how she acts surprised every time Beast turns in to a Prince even though she's seen the movie a handful of times. Her absolute favorite part is when Belle walks down the staircase and holds up her beautiful yellow dress.  Sally reenacts this scene {as well as many others} throughout the day.

We were also THAT family who brought their newborn along to the movie.  I didn't want to miss out on Sally's first movie theatre experience and I'm not quite ready to leave Libby, even if it's only for a few hours. However, the only way people would have known Libby was there is if they saw us walk in with her.  Although, she only slept for 30 minutes of the movie, she didn't cry or make her presence known.

Diaper bag is a dead giveaway that he's a dad of girls

Don't Carpe Diem

This article has been “liked” all over Facebook. I finally took the time to read it. I’m glad I did. Go ahead; check it out, I’ll be here when you’re done.  "Don't Carpe Diem"

You’ll especially like it if you are or were a parent and you’re not afraid to say that sometimes it’s hard. Some moments just plan suck.

For example:

*While nursing Libby, Sally decided to go poop and pee in her pants. I can probably count on one hand how many accidents she’d had since being potty trained, this doesn’t ever happen.

*The other night I got 4 hours of sleep, one hour here, two there and one more here. The next day was a long day for everyone

*About to head out to go Grocery shopping, finally ready to walk out the door and Libby fills her pants AND her clothes

*Yesterday was one of those days that we just couldn’t get out of our pajamas because there was always something to do every where I turned

But then there are moments like this, that make it all worth it:

*While nursing Libby, Sally runs to me. Smooths out my hair, tilts her head and says “I like your hair today Mommy. I love you Mommy. Can I give you a hug and a kiss?”

*Libby’s giggles after she’s done nursing and in a “milk comma”

*Seeing the excitement in Sally’s eyes as I set up her princess tent. “Can we play in that today Mommy? You’re gonna play with me toooooo?!” {Because yesterday was that day when I didn’t get much sleep and we didn’t get out of our pajamas because there was always something to do}

*Waking to the hungry grunts of the little newborn, only to realize she allowed me 4 straight uninterrupted hours of sleep. Thank you thank you! The next day was a great one for all of us!

*Appreciating the fact that I can have days where we stay in our pajamas just because, because momma doesn’t have to go to work. She gets to spend it with her two girls, experiencing first hand all that happens during their days. TWO girls, it’s still sinking in that we are blessed with two beautiful healthy little girls

*Hearing the cries of the little because she is up and the moment she sees and hears her mama she instantly stops crying. Melts my heart, that instant bond between the newborn and their mother

*Peeking in to see Sally holding and rocking Libby, while Reid talks to both girls, allowing me to have a peaceful bath

*Greeting my husband at the door to find a bouquet of Pink tulips, because he appreciates me, especially the sacrifice of nursing {specifically in the middle of the night}

*My toddler is finally, finally going poop on the toilet

*Checking out at Target yesterday to which we were blessed with the sweet old lady in front of us. She came to see Libby and after realizing she was only a few weeks old she complimented me on my amazing job of being out and about and looking so good, all the while keeping the kids happy and smiling. She proceeded to unload my cart for me. She said, not because I needed the help, but because I deserved a little break. She remembers all too well, the days of raising young ones. *angel on earth*

*Looking out my window just now to realize my neighbor shoveled for us

All of these moments, good and bad happened just this week. I’m sure I could add a few more to the challenging list and quite a few more to the blessing list, but you get the point. Parenting is the most challenging job of them all, but oh-so-worth-it!!

Love those lips!

Happy Weekend!

High Fivin'

One Month!

Libby, Libs, Libbers, Libyan Rebel is one month today {yesterday...I had the post up and ready to publish all day, but the day got away from me.  Sorry} !

She's starting to be able to see farther and loves to follow things and people with her eyes.  She can definitely pick out her sister, dad and mama!

She has started to smile, more than just gas smiles.  She most often does this right after eating, as if to say "Thanks mom, that was good"

There have been a few times that she has giggled, but over nothing in particular.

She's a rockstar at holding her head up as well!

Playing Dress Up

We played dress up this morning

Sister, Sister...did you ever watch that show?

She's 4 weeks old today...crazy how fast that went!! I'll post her one month picture on Monday, the 16th easier to keep track with the date rather than the weeks

She'll turn her head the minute she hears her sister's voice!

Happy Friday the 13th! Finally, a weekend since Libby's birth, that we have nothing. notta. zilch. zip. thing to do.  Alleluia!

Sallyisms

"Hey Mom, Belle's hungry, it's time to feed Belle"

Sally comes running in from the other room.  "Do you hear it?! Do you hear the bird in my nose?!!!" {You know what she's talking about, the high pitched noise that is there sometimes when you breath in through your nose}

Sitting on the couch talking, while I feed Libby.  "Memeber, when I was little and you use to feed  me like that?  and and and member when you used to burp me too?  When I'm bigger and I'm a mom I can have coffee! {she always wants to try it, but we tell her it's only for Mommys and Daddys} But but right now, I'm just Sally, the only me in the whole world and you love me so so much!"

January in MN

I know there have been a lot of people commenting on the bizarre weather we were having up until today.  We couldn't resist breaking in the new stroller yesterday and taking a walk.  I think the girls could have spent the whole day out there, they loved it!  {Makes me really realize the difference of a May baby as compared to a December baby...we'll just have to go to the mall for walks}

Loving the fresh air

so fun to finally have a baby to fill the stroller!
