M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E Mickey Mouse, Mickey Mouse!

This was the first time we tried the costume on.  Not a fan of the hood...sensitive Sally or claustrophobic like her  mom?

Help Mom, I don't like these big hands!

After much practice of wearing the costume at home and being pleasantly distracted by toys and friends at ECFE she was a champ!

Can you please help me with the hands so I can get dinner prepared?!

All the kids would laugh at each other not knowing they looked just as silly!

Love you Daddy!

Love this picture of her :)

Just got done giggling at herself in the mirror
Happy Halloween to everyone out there! I'm sure we'll have many more Mickey pictures to post after the weekend, as well as some Jack O'lanterns. Give lots of treats to the trick-o-treaters!

**Thank you Nana and Grandpa for finding this awesome costume at a garage sale!

Pumpkin Prep

We brought the pumpkins in yesterday to warm them up before we begin our carving tonight!  It looks as though Sally is taking a bite out of the pumpkin when really, she's kissing it.  The chunk that's missing is due to a squirrel!

A sneak peek at Sally's Halloween costume.

We had ECFE last night and all the children wore their costumes, it was pretty entertaining.  We all know Sally is rather sensitive and so we'd been putting on her costume each day so that she'll get used to it--she's not a fan.  I waited to put her costume on after we got to class in hopes that all the distractions would allow her to not care about her big hands and tight hood.  It worked! She stayed in it for an hour without a tear or a whine.  She would often walk over to the mirror, take a peek do a little giggle and continue on  playing.

May I be excused please?

Sally has this new thing she does after she eats. I take her tray off to wipe her off and she bends over as far and she can and toots! Very lady like this little lady is!

Climber

Sally loves helping me with laundry by sorting "Mommy, Daddy, Sally!" She's very much into labeling things around the house and who they belong to.  The other morning we went upstairs to go make the bed and she saw some of Reid's laundry on the floor.  She pointed and said "Daddy!" Then she looked at me, tilted her head and said "Non-knee!" (naughty)
She's getting taller and taller each day and is realizing it is opening up a whole new world...for mommy too! She can reach more things up high, or on the table and she's able to get herself on the couch to sit like a big girl.  She thought it was pretty great when she climbed on to the table downstairs.  Sorry for the quality of pictures, I only had my phone and I feared if I ran up to get my camera we'd be taking a trip to the Doctor.

Piano Fingers

We were at Reid's Aunt Jane's house for dinner on Friday.  She has a beautiful piano.  When Sally was little, people would comment on her fingers and how they were long and skinny.  They said they were piano fingers.  I never played the piano, maybe Sally will some day.  She had fun pretending she knew what she was doing.

Girl Talk

Have I told you lately how much I love being a mom?  Well I do!  Last night Reid was hanging out with the guys so I was brushing my teeth getting ready to check on Sally before heading up to bed.  I was thinking how it would be so nice to snuggle with her right now.  Literally a minute later Sally started to whine a bit so I jumped at the opportunity.  I promise I didn't make her wake up.

She's getting so big.  When I picked her up out of her crib, she reached up and grabbed hold nice and tightly around my neck, her own little way to say "I love you mommy and need you too." No longer is she a little infant who doesn't have control of her body, I can't position her to make her fit into my arms how I want.  She positions herself to how she wants, but it fits perfectly with me. Kind of like two puzzle pieces.  We were made for each other, me and this little lady.

We made our way to the rocking chair to snuggle for a bit.  Not because Sally needed it,  but because Mommy did.  She still had her arms tightly hanging on and as we started rocking she started playing and twirling my hair ever so lightly.  The tears started flowing-joyful tears.  I can't believe she's really mine.  She's so sweet and innocent and pure.  Will she still want to snuggle when she's 13?  Will she be able to stand strong for what she believes in and stay true to herself?  Okay, I thought to myself, don't get carried away, so I whispered into her ear.  She was so very still, taking in everything I was saying.  We said a few prayers, many soft kisses and then I tucked her  back into bed.

Reid gets to do the last snuggle each night and tuck Sally into bed, it's only fair, I'm here all day with her and he soaks up her sweetness as much as he can.  She sleeps through the night and has for a very long time, so rarely to I get to get in an extra snuggle.  I get lots of hugs and kisses from her throughout the day, but there's something different about being in her little cozy room in the dark of the night.  So I thank her for allowing me to have an extra squeeze last night, she knew just what her mama needed, for no reason at all!  Can't wait for her to wake up this morning so we can play!

I wish I had taken a picture of her sleeping soundly and peacefully for the post today.  However, I do have a video I took when she was a month old of her sleeping ever so soundly.

If you've been over to visit you know how much Sally loves pretend talking on the phone.  She walks around the room holding the phone to her ear with her shoulder babbling away.  She even pauses as if someone is really responding to her on the other end.  Every time I get the camera out to record she stops doing it, so I tried to sneak one the other day in the car.  It's not the greatest, but kind of gives you the idea.

Enjoy your weekend, I hope it's filled with lots of snuggles!

Adult Beverage

Sally's new favorite thing to do is take out food and things stored in our backroom.  This is her latest find...looks like Daddy has to find a new hiding spot or we might get turned in to social services...

Pumpkin Patch

We took an adventure with our neighbor/ECFE friends to a pumpkin patch-or was it apples, right Brad? =) We loaded up their minivan and headed out to the "burbs." It was a beautiful day and we had lots of laughter and fun.  I can see it becoming a tradition.  Thank you Brad, Mary and Lucy, it was a blast! Enjoy all the pictures!

Monday is Laundry Day

I have started to get into a routine around here.  Every Monday is laundry day.  The Little Lady has started to take after her mommy.  She will be folding and putting away laundry in no time!
