Christmas Prep

We have a rule at our house, no Christmas music until after we eat Turkey :) It's only fair to give Thanksgiving the attention it deserves, right? It's extra hard this year to follow that rule.  For one, we're so excited to see Christmas through Sally's eyes.  We can't wait to drive her around to look at all of the lights, not to mention what her reaction will be when there's a TREE in her living room!  It's also hard to follow this rule because I'm going on a mini-vacation next week, so I feel like I'll be a week behind on Christmas prep.

Yesterday, I decided to get started on Christmas cookies and Christmas Cards.  We made Santa Surprise Cookies.  You can see I had a little help...
Good catch Daddy, we almost had flour all over the floor!

Sally helping Daddy out with the flour on his nose

Yum, Yum, Yum! We had to try at least one before we stored them away in the freezer until it's officially time to start eating Christmas cookies!
Reid has a work trip to Tucson next week, Monday-Thursday, so I decided to take advantage and go along.

Reid: "You know, I'll probably be working long days, right?"
Me: "Yep, all I need is a book and the sun!"

Sally will be hanging with her Grandparents, a few days at each house.  We're so lucky to have them so willing and wanting to help us out! I'm a little nervous of how Mommy's going to do, being away from her little girl for 4 days.  I know it'll help rejuvenate the mama in me! I'll come back ready to tackle motherhood again as well as dance around to Christmas music!

Ponytail

The other day Sally was being extra cooperative when I was doing her hair so I decided to try a pony.  It worked, but doesn't look the cutest.  However, that's a big milestone in a girl's life, right? :) Have I mentioned how much I love having a little girl? Her Christmas dress just came in the mail yesterday.  Sally saw it, pointed and said "ooooh piiitty"

Folks, those eyelashes are real...lucky lady!

Whale

Sally has been learning at least one new word each day.  Yesterday, it was knee, the day before that it was laundry...  Amazing how her vocabulary has just erupted since she turned 1 1/2.  This is one of my favorite new words.  I just love how she says it and can identify it out of all the other animals.  I know the "duck" she refers to is really a pig, but look at it, is it really worth explaining and confusing her? :)

Lighted Display

We took a field trip to Menards this weekend, just so Sally could walk through the lighted display...

Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland

Sally loved running up to the front door, looking out and saying "WoW!"  I bet she did it at least 15 times throughout the day.  Here's a video of her seeing it for the first time.  If you can't tell by her hair, this is immediately after she woke up in the morning :)

After we got all of her snow gear on, she loved to just stand on the snow and look all around.  Here she is trying to walk in it for the first time.  It's as if she's having to learn to walk for the first time.  Sorry for the angle of the video, Reid took it from him phone.

Let is Snow Let it Snow Let it Snow

As in every other Twin Cities post, this is what we woke up to Saturday morning...beautiful!
I love the snow.  If it's going to be cold, there might as well be something pretty to look at and fun to play in!
Here's our little Eskimo-Thanks Nana & Grandpa for the snow pants and jacket!
She wanted to make sure you saw her boots too!
She's got Minnesota Blood!
She loves her Mama!

Her Daddy too!

Can I just say how wonderful it is to have my husband be able to shovel again!  Remember, last year, he got shoulder surgery in January.  As he was raking the snow off our roof he looked to me and said "Geez, I didn't give you enough credit last year!"  Yep, that's right, I was wife of the year :)

We have video of Sally...that will be tomorrow's post! Hope you have your cuddle duds on, it's chilly out there!

Family, but Different

Sally's cousins came over to play Wednesday morning.  It's so funny how we're all family, but so different.  It's so funny how Sally and Lucy are only 2 weeks apart, but so different.  Sally kind of stood on the sidelines just taking it all in and watching the other kids explore.  It's usually so quiet here, she wasn't quite sure what's going on.  She loves her some William, he could just look at her and Sally would start to giggle.  She would randomly walk up to him turn her head and say "Hi."

This pictures sums it up, Sally, watching the other two to see what's going on.  William, being older and more mature, so he knows to look at the camera, smile and then he can begin playing again.  Lucy, wondering why she had to be taken away from the toys to sit on a couch for a picture!
Uncle Joe Joe came over to play too.  I took William upstairs to go potty and came down to this:

Joey wasn't a fan of the chaos so he turned on Elmo and tucked the girls in.  When I came back down he said "There, isn't that so much better and quieter?!"

Thanks for coming over to play Nash's! Come again soon!

May I have a sip, please?

Learning to use a 'big girl' glass
"How can you say no to this face?"

M'mm that tastes so much better than out of a sippy cup!

Gorilla

Sally has a favorite book every day.  Yesterday it was Good Night, Gorilla.
She does a pretty good job of repeating back words.  She can even say 'animal' correctly!  We finally found a word that stumped her...take a listen

That darn tongue always gets in the way!

Doe A Deer, A Female Deer

Daddy shot two deer this weekend...
Even though I teased him about shooting a mommy :(  We're still proud of him!
We had a fun time at home hanging out with the girls! Thanks Meggers for spending the weekend with us, we had so much fun with you!

Rock & Rock

When Sally sees a rocking chair she points to it and says, "Rock and Rock!" So yesterday morning we had a rockin' time :)

Getting momentum

She thought she was so funny, being able to rock all by herself

She saw JB (her teddy bear) in her crib and wanted to make sure she could rock him. So we rocked and sang songs to him.

Huggin' JB

Kisses for JB

Fall Clean Up

Over the weekend we were able to get the yard cleaned up and ready for a MN winter.  I was downstairs doing something, so Reid got Sally ready to go outside.  I don't know why, but when I came up and saw her I couldn't stop laughing. I thought she looked hilarious with her hat sticking up, mittens with no fingers and her brown boots, at least she was nice and warm and having a great time!

This is my Buddy, this is my Pal!

Sally and Henry have started to notice each other exist and get excited when the other is awake so they can play!
Breakfast Buddies

This was their first time in the car together...they laughed and giggled at each other the entire way!

Happy belated Halloween!

Sally is usually the one who gets to go into Henry's room when he gets up from his nap.  Yesterday, we switched it up! Take a look...

Friendly Neighbors!

A few reasons why I love our neighbors:

1.  There are two other ladies who are home during the day whom I often get to chat with during the days to help keep me sane.

2.  I have at least one coffee date with them each week

3.  They are always willing to help if we need it, whether it's watching the kids so I can get our car to the shop to get a new battery, or allowing me to vote in the morning before the crowds get too big, or letting us borrow their extension ladder so we (by we, I mean Reid)can clean out our gutters in the back!

4. Our babysitter lives right across the street, which is a bit too convenient!  We get proof from her that Sally is as happy as can be when she comes over to play...see picture below!

Thank you for helping make our house a home!

Hey Mickey, You're so Fine!

Happy Halloween! It was so much fun having a toddler and being able to celebrate through her eyes.  Even though she's still a bit too young to fully understand this crazy holiday, she brought us so much excitement throughout the day.  Again, she did wonderfully with having her costume on! We went in the car and trick-or-treated at some friends' houses and then stopped at our close neighbors' houses.  She started to get it at the end that she was able to pick out her candy and put it in her bucket!  What a beautiful night it was to be out trick-or-treating.  I do have to say, I'm a bit thankful for not having to be a teacher today as the kids are either going to be bouncing off the walls, or very tired.

Look at all my candy!

Are you able to guess who's pumpkin is who's?
