Sally has her first overnight this weekend at Grandma and George's house. Reid and I will be at some good friend's of ours wedding in Cold Spring, MN. We're filled with mixed emotions as this will be the first night since she's been born that I haven't been with her. I'm totally okay with it, it just means she's growing up even more and needs her Mama less and less.
If you know Reid, you know how he loves him some Wheel! Sally too, has been roped into the show. She can be playing in the other room, hear it come on and she comes barreling into the room. I don't know if it's the sounds or what, that attracts her to it. One time when Uncle Joe Joe was babysitting the puzzle was "If You're Happy and You Know It." Sally of course started doing the actions to the song!

Cha Cha Changes

We finally got around to painting our front door. It was too much white before.

I was at a friend's house and saw polka dots in her little girl's room. Loved it and got some for Sally. I know it might be a little much, but aren't you suppose to go all out when it's a little girl? :) I also added pictures of Sally on her shelf. Yep, they are both her! She looks so different from a newborn to a one year old!
I didn't do all the walls, just one and a quarter.

Sally has also popped 4 more teeth through, all on the top! Yay, we're up to 6 teeth now! I don't have any pictures of them because she doesn't like to show them off quite yet!

Wild Thing!

Sally's dance moves have improved since this. Not sure where she learned these moves. I don't think Reid nor I move quite like this. At least I hope not! Enjoy!

Splash Pad

We are fortunate, that where we live there are parks every where! Within in a mile radius of our house there are give or take 7 parks! One of these parks happens to be a splash pad. We decided to check it out on Sunday. Sally loves the water, and I think it will be even better once she can fully walk on her own. She loved watching all of the crazy kids. Reid and I, however, were not too thrilled with some of the kids.

See that super soaker contraption thing in the background? Yep, a kid DRENCHED me with it (I didn't have my suit on either!) Where was his mother? Reid made a valid point...

Why is it that we always ask where a kid's mother is, couldn't he have been there with his dad?

"I'm going to getchew mom!"

Here's another "water" thing from the weekend. I love the drink called Bootleggers, and we decided to try and make it on our own. We continued to add water throughout the night and it was a bit tart to begin with. They were yummy though! You can find the recipe here!

Speaking of water, I could have used some on my run this morning. Holy humidity!!! I was so close to stopping at a random person's house and drinking from their garden hose. Even my hands were sweating!!

H-2-O

We had a lot of fun this weekend. It involved a lot of water. Since it's Monday, I'm going to start off with the one that will make you smile! As you know, Sally thoroughly enjoys her bath. She was loving splashing Daddy last night!

Side note...check out my friend's adorable clutch purse *giveaway* on her blog!

Scary Situations

I recently got in to the Twin Cities 10 mile; the run from the Dome to the Capital as they call it. I've been doing my training in the morning before Reid goes to work. Yes, I am a morning person, but it's tough for me because I usually need to eat something before I work out. As the distances get farther I'm sure I'll have to eat a granola bar or something before I head out. Some days the training is cross training and we are fortunate to live near bike/running/walking trails.

I look forward to the cross training days, I don't have to be as awake, and it tends to be an "easier" day. It's really quite peaceful, there are a few other runners or bikers out there, but for the most part, it's just me and the sun coming up over the downtown skyline.

1. It was one of those perfect mornings and I was deep in thought. I occasionally look over my shoulder to see if there are any "Lance Armstrong's" about to fly by me. There was one a ways down, so would be passing me in a little bit. The next song on my playlist was this : **You only have to listen to the first 5 seconds, sorry about the actual video it was the only one that played the lyrics I needed.**

Right as Madonna said "What are you looking at," the Lance Armstrong biked past. I about fell off my bike! That got the heart rate up!

2. There's always an interesting story from the bike trail. This morning was one of those mornings when the alarm goes off and you think "Isn't it Saturday? Can't we sleep in?" There were many yawns as I was biking down Georgia Ave to get to the trail. There was a large truck coming behind me, so I did my best to move over to the side as far as possible. Made it to the trail, still yawning, biking away and I realize it's getting brighter, but it's an overcast morning. I look behind me and there are headlights coming right at me! Headlights! WHAT?! Cars can't fit on this trail, but wait, it's not a car, it's a huge truck! What in the world? As it gets closer I realize it's the same truck that past me on the street. No mom, it wasn't following me. I guess it was making its way to fill in some bumps and pot holes on the trail. A little warning would have been nice.

3. Sally loves the bathroom. Why? Because it's the one room we don't like her to roam around, it's dirty and gross, no matter how often you clean it. Whatever you make a big deal of by saying "No No No," well, then, that's exactly what she wants. During the day I always have the toilet seat down and the door closed. I was in the other room and noticed Sally was being pretty quiet. I found her joyfully splashing and playing with the toilet water. She looked up, smiled sweetly and said "Hiiiii!" My initial thought, "Oh man, you're dad is going to be so mad at me!" How did she get in? Not quite sure. The door must have not been "clicked" when closed. Yes, the toilet seat was down, but that didn't deter her. At least it was "clean" toilet water.

4. Sally's growing up. She's learning how to eat with a spoon. She's learning how to play so well by herself. I caught her reading herself a book the other day. Gosh, I can't get enough of this girl!

Pool Party!

Sally loves playing with our neighbor friend Kellen. Every time we go outside she looks to his house, waves, smiles and giggles, even if he is no where to be seen. I love the last picture, it's as if Sally's saying "Did you really just jump in MY pool and get water on MY face?!" (What a girl!)

Orrrrrreo!

Sally had her first Oreo the other night. We knew it was going to be a messy one, so we made sure to take it outside with just the diaper :) The bath water was ready and waiting for her when she finished!

Play Date BBQ

We had a BBQ this weekend at my former co-worker's house. In our small school of a total staff count around 18, there were three of us pregnant at the same time. It was fun to have all of the kids together and watch them interact! Thanks Amanda and Todd for hosting!

Watch Out World

We've got walkers! Lucy and Sally are slowly gaining speed in their steps! We were over at the Nash's on Saturday, and it's moments like these that make it so fun having two girls so close together. They took a bath (Sally wasn't the biggest fan) and then they practiced walking in their diapers. There are more videos on my You Tube page.

It was a great summer weekend filled with lots of BBQing with friends and family!

Piggies!

It's a milestone right? When you can get piggies in your little girl's hair! Just as big as rolling over, taking the first step, saying her first word? At least her Mama thinks it is...even if I had to bribe her with my phone to get her to sit still long enough!

My Little Shadow

The other morning, I was cleaning the bathroom. I had a little shadow that followed me back and forth and all around. When I started scrubbing the tub she got really excited because she thought it was bath time. So I did this...

I turned on Sesame Street...it's the first time I have ever "used" the television. She sat like this for all of 2 minutes and then didn't care too much. However, she stayed in this room with all of her toys and when I kept popping my head in to check on her she was dancing to the music on TV. Maybe I can skip the shows and just get her a big stereo!

Playing Catch

As seen previously, Sally loves anticipation! Her new thing is whenever I am counting and I'm about to say Three, she'll scream. Sometimes it's because we're going to do something funny, or "scary," but sometimes we're just counting our steps (she's up to 7 all by herself...getting closer). Every time she screams...what a nut!

The other day she learned how to play catch...well, kind of :)

S is for Sally!

She's not a baby anymore :( I've gotten that comment more than once. Reid and I noticed it about two weeks ago, she's officially a toddler. An adorable toddler might I add!

Sally was able to meet Kari and Andy's new little puppy! She is also adorable! Little Lucy! Sally was a big fan!

Thanks Tiff for the cute 'S' shirt! Check out in stitches new designs! (become a fan on Facebook)

This week's favorite moments

**Sally and I were walking down the sidewalk with her walker, and my neighbor asked me out of the blue if I smiled through my entire pregnancy. My response, Yes!, the entire time, I loved it, every minute of it. I'm looking forward to being pregnant again...not just yet though. The reason she asked? Because Sally smiles all.the.time, at anyone and at no one. She even smiles in her sleep. :)

**Sharing a popsicle after nap, outside in the shade on the lawn chair. We were giggling so hard when the juice would run down our chins and drip all over us. Stickiness is part of summer...even for neat freaks like me!

**Sally has been saying Daddy and Da Da for quite some time now. She even says "Hi Daddy" when he walks in the door from work, or in the mornings when she wakes up. It melts his heart....okay, it melts my heart too. I can't get mad, 9 times out of 10 she prefers me over anyone else. BUT, the other day I was making dinner and she was crawling around, crawled to my leg, pulled herself up (love when she does this!), patted my leg and said "Mamamama." I can't imagine how I'll feel the first time she says 'I love you.'

Celebrating Life!

No, I don't have dirt on my face, it's a mosquito!

The one-the-only, Aunt Kathy! We were being silly (what's new?!) and dancing. It must have been an "old school" song!

She needed some cheering up...

Sally missed the nights, in that, she slept through them. She was down at 7 and was up at 8 (I know, we're lucky). Here she is one morning happy as can be, eating her breakfast. Queen of the thrown!
Here are a few videos, if you'd like to see more you can go to my you tube page here.

Grandma Nancy celebrating life, but not aware she's being recorded doing it :)

Maddie enjoying her dip off her leg, she's got the cutest little voice!

Lastly, Grandma Peggy celebrated life by taking it to the extreme. She did the tire swing. My creative cousin thought of the idea of using another rope to pull up the tire swing...FROM THE DECK! Check back to a previous post where I took a picture of "the cabin" and you can see how high it went up! Most of us went on the swing and I got most of the videos that you can check out at the you tube site! Way to go Grandma!
