Great Grandma Joan

Great Grandma Joan died, September 20th, 2014.  It can be seen as a bit of a blessing as she had been battling Alzheimer's for quite some time.

The funeral was in Hallock, MN (6 hours, 20 miles from Canada) this past week.  Just Daddy and Libby were able to go, as I'm too far along in our pregnancy to travel farther than 2 hours, so Sally and I hung back.  We missed them terribly, but kept them in our prayers and stayed in contact with pictures!

Sally was fortunate to meet Great Grandma Joan a few times, and what a sweet caring lady she was.

I vividly remember this first meeting as they sat there and had a little conversation between the two of them, Sally only one month old.

Joan Craigmile, 85, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Mary Joan Blide was born June 1, 1929 at Hallock to Erhard and Clara (Olen) Blide. She grew up on the family farm and was a 1947 graduate of Hallock High School. On December 19th, 1948 she married Milton "Pete" Craigmile at her parent's home near Hallock. The couple farmed for several years before Pete took a job with the Minnesota State Highway Department. Joan was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and the quilting group there. She was also a member of the Two River Homemakers, Sewing Club and the Red Hat Society. Pete and Joan entered the nursing home together in March of 2010. Pete died on May 21, 2010.

We appreciate all of the love, prayers and support.  Oh, what fun Great Grandma is now having in Heaven, I can only imagine!

Even though Libby had to endure 12 hours in the car in just two days, she was a very good girl and certainly enjoyed her one on three attention.  She and Daddy road up with Nana and Grandpa from Alex on.

Meanwhile, back home I tried to make Sally feel extra special with her one on one time, as she would have loved to go too.  It was also 4 days in a row that she didn't get to see Daddy as he had classes the two days prior to leaving, and she missed him quite a bit.

Working on her homework: "Hey Mom, look at the top of my 8, it is like a heart, that's for Daddy!"

Always keeping things in an order, Rainbow order

Ready to take on Friday and excited that Mommy is going to come for lunch!

You will be missed Great Grandma Joan, we love you!  I'll never forget her hugs.  She was a petite thing, but her hugs were something quite fierce that let you know you were loved :)
