Have I told you lately how much I love being a mom? Well I do! Last night Reid was hanging out with the guys so I was brushing my teeth getting ready to check on Sally before heading up to bed. I was thinking how it would be so nice to snuggle with her right now. Literally a minute later Sally started to whine a bit so I jumped at the opportunity. I promise I didn't make her wake up.
She's getting so big. When I picked her up out of her crib, she reached up and grabbed hold nice and tightly around my neck, her own little way to say "I love you mommy and need you too." No longer is she a little infant who doesn't have control of her body, I can't position her to make her fit into my arms how I want. She positions herself to how she wants, but it fits perfectly with me. Kind of like two puzzle pieces. We were made for each other, me and this little lady.
We made our way to the rocking chair to snuggle for a bit. Not because Sally needed it, but because Mommy did. She still had her arms tightly hanging on and as we started rocking she started playing and twirling my hair ever so lightly. The tears started flowing-joyful tears. I can't believe she's really mine. She's so sweet and innocent and pure. Will she still want to snuggle when she's 13? Will she be able to stand strong for what she believes in and stay true to herself? Okay, I thought to myself, don't get carried away, so I whispered into her ear. She was so very still, taking in everything I was saying. We said a few prayers, many soft kisses and then I tucked her back into bed.
Reid gets to do the last snuggle each night and tuck Sally into bed, it's only fair, I'm here all day with her and he soaks up her sweetness as much as he can. She sleeps through the night and has for a very long time, so rarely to I get to get in an extra snuggle. I get lots of hugs and kisses from her throughout the day, but there's something different about being in her little cozy room in the dark of the night. So I thank her for allowing me to have an extra squeeze last night, she knew just what her mama needed, for no reason at all! Can't wait for her to wake up this morning so we can play!
I wish I had taken a picture of her sleeping soundly and peacefully for the post today. However, I do have a video I took when she was a month old of her sleeping ever so soundly.
If you've been over to visit you know how much Sally loves pretend talking on the phone. She walks around the room holding the phone to her ear with her shoulder babbling away. She even pauses as if someone is really responding to her on the other end. Every time I get the camera out to record she stops doing it, so I tried to sneak one the other day in the car. It's not the greatest, but kind of gives you the idea.
Enjoy your weekend, I hope it's filled with lots of snuggles!
